Dear students, this book was written with one simple purpose: vocabulary should never stand between you and your selection. Vocab Sanjeevani covers the vocabulary asked by the Staff Selection Commission across its exams, along with words that have not been asked yet but are used so often that they can appear in any upcoming paper. Every word is explained in both English and Hindi, in easy and lucid language.
The vocabulary is divided into lists. List A contains words asked in SSC exams from 2018 to 2024, List B contains words asked in SSC exams from 1999 to 2018, and List C covers other exams such as NDA, CDS, AFCAT, Air Force, Banking, DSSSB and the state exams. This edition adds Latest PYQ Words 2025–26, so the newest questions are with you as well. All lists are arranged in alphabetical order, because words learnt in order stay in the mind for a long time.
Important words that are useful across Synonyms, Antonyms, OWS, Spellings, Homonyms and Homophones are highlighted. The part of speech of every word is mentioned. For example, Gregarious (6) (adj.) means that Gregarious has been asked six times and it is an adjective. In One Word Substitutions and Idioms & Phrases, the language of a question is often moulded, so we have given the meaning that covers all its possible versions. Similarly, verbs asked in their V2/V3 forms have been converted to V1 to make them easier to learn.
In this edition, every word comes with the trick I use in my classes, its pronunciation, examples from exams and from daily life, its word family and the look-alike words that confuse students, and the previous year questions in which it was asked. Flashcards bring words back to you just before you would forget them, the Daily Sanjeevani Dose gives you a small target every day, and the mind maps, games and tests make revision feel like play. The “Smart Vocabulary” and “क्या आप जानते हैं?” boxes are back too, fully exam oriented and a nice break from dullness.
My request is simple: रटना बंद, समझना शुरू. Do not treat English as a subject to be mugged up. Connect the meaning with the word. Some words you will remember through their root, some through a trick, and some only by saying them again and again, and that is perfectly fine. Use whichever way works for you; the target is that the word stays with you.
Above everything, be consistent. A few words every single day will take you much further than a hundred words once a week. Utmost care has been taken to make this book error free, and it will keep getting better with your feedback.
Read it with an open mind, revise it with honesty, and I promise you, English will never become a hurdle in your selection.

सबसे ज़रूरी बात, consistency रखिए। हफ्ते में एक दिन सौ words पढ़ने से कहीं ज़्यादा फायदा रोज़ थोड़े-थोड़े words पढ़ने से होगा। इस book को error free बनाने में पूरी सावधानी रखी गई है, और आपके feedback से यह और बेहतर होती रहेगी।

How to read a word card
Start with the meaning, in English and in Hindi. Then read Sir's Trick and look at its little scene; let the picture sit in your mind. Tap 🔊 and say the word aloud two or three times with it, because a word you speak yourself stays far longer. Finally, solve the PYQs given on that word and read their explanation, so you know exactly how the exam asks it.
पहले meaning पढ़िए, English और हिंदी दोनों में। फिर Sir's Trick पढ़िए और उसका छोटा सा scene देखिए, picture को दिमाग में बैठने दीजिए। 🔊 दबाइए और word को उसके साथ दो-तीन बार ज़ोर से बोलिए, क्योंकि जो word आप खुद बोलते हैं वो ज़्यादा देर याद रहता है। आखिर में उस word के PYQs solve कीजिए और explanation पढ़िए, ताकि पता रहे कि exam में ये कैसे पूछा जाता है।
Detailed or Concise
Read in Detailed mode the first time you meet a word: examples, word family, look-alikes and the exam note are all there. When you come back to revise, switch to Concise and you will see only what you need, the word, its meaning and the trick. You can also choose English, Hinglish or हिंदी, whichever you are most comfortable with.
किसी word से पहली बार मिलें तो Detailed mode में पढ़िए: examples, word family, look-alikes और exam note सब वहाँ मिलेगा। जब revise करने वापस आएँ तो Concise कर लीजिए, सिर्फ़ ज़रूरी चीज़ दिखेगी: word, meaning और trick। आप English, Hinglish या हिंदी, जिसमें comfortable हों, वो भी चुन सकते हैं।
Flashcards and the Daily Dose
Every day, the Daily Sanjeevani Dose gives you 20 words and a 10-question quiz on them. Words you mark for revision come back as flashcards after 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 days, just when your memory is about to let them slip. Be honest with each card: if you did not remember it, say so, and it will come back sooner.

Revise with mind maps and games
Mind maps put a whole family on one page, a root with all its words, or confusing words side by side, so one look revises many words together. Games such as Match the pair turn revision into fun, and fun revision is revision you will actually do. Words always come in families; learn them together and they stay together.
Mind maps पूरी family एक page पर दिखा देते हैं, एक root और उसके सारे words, या confuse करने वाले words आमने-सामने, ताकि एक नज़र में कई words revise हो जाएँ। Match the pair जैसे games से revision मज़ेदार बनता है, और जो revision मज़ेदार हो वही रोज़ होता है। जोड़-जोड़ के शब्द याद कीजिए, साथ पढ़ेंगे तो साथ याद रहेंगे।
Tests and My Mistakes
After every few chapters, attempt a practice test or a vocab sectional test with SSC marking, so you get used to the real exam pressure, negative marking included. Every question you get wrong goes into My Mistakes. Revise that list before every test; the words you once got wrong are exactly the words that decide your marks.
हर कुछ chapters के बाद practice test या vocab sectional test दीजिए, SSC marking के साथ, ताकि negative marking समेत असली exam का pressure झेलने की आदत हो जाए। जो भी question गलत होगा वो My Mistakes में चला जाएगा। हर test से पहले वो list ज़रूर revise कीजिए; जो words एक बार गलत हुए, असल में वही आपके marks तय करते हैं।
