Concept: paper को उल्टे क्रम में खोलिए; आख़िरी पट्टी में तीन परतें हैं, इसलिए खुले हुए paper में हर hole तीन बार दिखता है।
ऊपर के तिहाई हिस्से को बीच वाले हिस्से पर नीचे की ओर मोड़ा गया और फिर दोनों को नीचे वाले तिहाई हिस्से पर मोड़ा गया, इसलिए पट्टी एक-तिहाई ऊँची है और उसमें तीन परतें हैं।
पट्टी के दो ऊपरी holes और नीचे वाला बीच का hole नीचे के तिहाई हिस्से में वैसे ही रहते हैं। दूसरा fold खोलने पर उनकी mirror copy बीच वाले तिहाई हिस्से में बनती है (क्रम उल्टा हो जाता है, इसलिए अकेला hole जोड़ी के ऊपर आता है)। पहला fold खोलने पर ऊपर के तिहाई हिस्से में mirror copy बनती है (अकेला hole जोड़ी के नीचे रहता है)।

Concept: unfold the paper in reverse; the final strip has three layers, so each hole appears three times on the opened sheet.
The top third was folded down over the middle third and then both were folded down over the bottom third, so the strip is one third high with three layers.
The two upper holes and the lower middle hole on the strip stay in the bottom third. Unfolding the second fold gives their mirror copies in the middle third (the order is reversed, so the single hole comes above the pair). Unfolding the first fold gives mirror copies in the top third (the single hole is below the pair).
Top to bottom this gives a pair, a single hole, a single hole, a pair, a pair and a single hole, which is option (b).
