नागरिकता (संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2019 (CAA) संविधान (Constitution) की छठी अनुसूची (Sixth Schedule) में सम्मिलित जनजातीय (tribal) क्षेत्रों पर लागू नहीं होता। यह असम, मेघालय, मिज़ोरम और त्रिपुरा के छठी अनुसूची वाले जनजातीय क्षेत्रों पर लागू नहीं होता; इसके साथ 'इनर लाइन' परमिट वाले क्षेत्र भी बाहर हैं।

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) does not apply to the tribal areas included in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. It does not apply to the Sixth Schedule tribal areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura; areas covered by the 'Inner Line' permit are also excluded.
Related facts: The Act provides a path to citizenship for Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian migrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who entered India on or before 31 December 2014.
It reduced the residence requirement for naturalisation from 11 years to 5 years.
The rules under this Act were notified in March 2024.
