A law made under Articles 2 and 3 may amend which of the following Schedules of the Constitution of India?

ExplanationAnswer and explanation

Answer: (D) First and Fourth Schedules

A law made by Parliament under Articles 2 and 3 may amend the First Schedule (names and boundaries of States and Union Territories) and the Fourth Schedule (allocation of seats in the Rajya Sabha). Such a law is not considered a constitutional amendment under Article 368.
Article 2 relates to the admission or establishment of new States; Article 3 to the formation of new States and alteration of boundaries.
On a Bill for the reorganisation of States, the views of the concerned State Legislature must be ascertained, but they are not binding.
Such a Bill can be introduced only on the prior recommendation of the President.
