Preface
Dear brothers and sisters,
While studying maths, you must have felt it many times: with the teacher, a question comes out easily, but when you sit down to do the same kind of question on your own, you cannot see where to begin. You remember the formula, you have read the chapter, and still the question gets stuck.
This is exactly where we need to work on our preparation.
I have cleared many exams myself, including SSC CGL, CHSL, CPO (AIR 29) and IB ACIO, and during my preparation I took thousands of mock tests, scoring full marks in a great many of them. Those years taught me how to look at a question and which method works when. It is with this experience that I have guided my team through every chapter of this book.
While preparing Vijayastra, my focus has been that you understand the question, understand the way to solve it, and then become able to solve such questions on your own.
That is why the book keeps the theory, the formulas, the different types of questions and the ways to solve them together. After reading the theory, look at the examples and then practise. This will show you what you have understood well and where some work is still left.
I know all of you love short tricks. When the timer is running on the screen, every second saved counts. But while learning a trick, also understand how it works and where to use it. Many questions will be quicker with ratios, in some you can assume an easy value, and in some the options will help. With practice, you will start choosing the right method.
While reading this book, do one thing without fail: try the question yourself before you look at the answer. Even if it does not work out, keep trying for a while. Then read the solution and find where you got stuck. When the same question comes out next time without help, you will know you have learnt from it.
Mark the questions you get wrong and try them again after a few days. Don't be happy only doing the questions you can already do. Give time to the ones that trouble you as well.
I want your confidence to grow along with your practice through this book, so that you can say, "This question is new, but I can do it."
Study well, practise with all your heart, and give your hard work the right direction.

This book carries the hard work of the whole Toppers' Wisdom team. From writing the theory of every chapter to arranging thousands of PYQs type by type, checking every solution, drawing the figures and proofreading again and again in all three languages, every member of the team has worked on it as their own book. My heartfelt thanks to all of you.
Thanks also to every student whose questions, comments and feedback told us what this book needed to have.
And a special thanks to my wife, Ruchi. Her inputs greatly helped me write this book.

Answering a question
Tap an option and the book tells you at once whether you are right. Open the explanation only after you have thought about it yourself.
Mark a type complete
Use the ‘Complete mark करें’ button at the top or the bottom of a type. Its chip in the bar above turns green with a ✓.
My Note
Under every concept there is a My Note strip. Write the point in your own words. It saves on its own, and My Desk lists all your notes.

Revision of mistakes
A question you get wrong goes to the Revision Studio. It comes back after 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 days. Formula flashcards work the same way.
Tests and mocks
A timed test on a chapter or a type runs at the SSC Tier-I pace. The Practice Zone also has full maths mocks on the latest pattern of each exam.

This book teaches SSC Maths the way I teach it in class. First the idea, then the formula, then the question. Every type has its basic method and its smart approach, and every PYQ sits under the type whose concept it tests.
