समतल दर्पण (plane mirror) द्वारा बना प्रतिबिंब आभासी (virtual), सीधा (erect) तथा वस्तु के बराबर आकार का होता है।
प्रतिबिंब दर्पण के पीछे उतनी ही दूरी (distance) पर बनता है जितनी दूरी पर वस्तु दर्पण के सामने होती है।
इसमें पार्श्व-परिवर्तन (lateral inversion) होता है, अर्थात् दायाँ भाग बायाँ दिखता है।
