Answer: (C) Appointment of Acting Chief Justice
अनुच्छेद 1 (Article 1)26 कार्यवाहक मुख्य न्यायाधीश (Acting Chief Justice) की नियुक्ति (appointment) का प्रावधान करता है। जब मुख्य न्यायाधीश का पद रिक्त हो, या वह अस्थायी रूप से अनुपस्थित हो, या अपने पद के कर्तव्यों का पालन करने में असमर्थ हो, तब राष्ट्रपति (President) उच्चतम न्यायालय (Supreme Court) के किसी अन्य न्यायाधीश को वे कर्तव्य निभाने के लिए नियुक्त करते हैं।

Article 126 provides for the appointment of an acting Chief Justice of India. When the office of the Chief Justice is vacant, or when he is temporarily absent or unable to perform the duties of his office, the President appoints another Judge of the Supreme Court to perform those duties.
