Preface

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

The Constitution under which we claim our rights, the soil on which our food grows, the scientific discoveries that keep changing our lives and the historic decisions whose effects we still feel today — General Studies is the story of all of these. It does not begin with a chapter of a book; it begins with our curiosity about the world around us.

Yet in exam preparation this living subject often shrinks into long lists of names, dates and facts. Students read a lot, and after some time they feel they have forgotten everything. One big reason is that we memorise information without understanding the links behind it.

Sarvagya has been created to close this gap.

I know this struggle from the inside. I prepared for these exams myself, cleared many of them — SSC CGL, CHSL, CPO (AIR 29), IB ACIO and Delhi Police SI among them — and on the way I attempted thousands of mock tests, scoring full marks in a great many of them. That journey taught me exactly what the examiner asks, how the traps are laid and what a student actually needs on the last day. This is what I brought to my team, and this is how we built this book: every topic was matched against the previous year questions of SSC, Railway and Police exams before a single line was written.

An event in History becomes clear when its causes and results make sense. Geography stays with you when you see places on the map along with their conditions. Polity feels simple when constitutional provisions connect with a citizen's life. Science feels like your own when its example is found in the kitchen, the field, your mobile phone or your own body.

While reading, keep the student inside you who asks questions. When you read a fact, ask: Why did this happen? What is it connected to? Which fact looks similar? What is the difference between the two? Such questions turn information into organised understanding.

Every topic can be read in four ways: concept first, question first, as crisp one-liners, or — when time is short — in the Concise mode with only the must-know points. Read the way that suits you, and come back after a few days to recall what you read on your own. Strong preparation in General Studies grows out of these small, steady connections.

If you have a doubt anywhere in the book, WhatsApp me on 8796323311 and get it cleared.

May your curiosity stay alive — that is the greatest power of knowledge.

How to read this book

How a chapter is arranged

The Introduction sits at the top, folded. Below it come the Topics. Every topic opens with its Concept, then closed dropdowns: How the Exam Asks It, Sir's Trick and Exam Traps. After that come PYQ First, One-liners and Practice (previous year questions). Tap a heading to open or close it.

Four ways to study

Concept first: read the Concept, then practise. Question first: open PYQ First, try each question, then read its full explanation, which also covers what the examiner can ask next. One-liners: open One-liners for fast revision; 🔥 marks the most-asked lines and Self-test hides them so you can recall them yourself. Concise: when time is short, read only the must-know points of each topic and its most-asked PYQs.

Pictures, maps and 3D models

Many topics have an interactive picture: drag a 3D model to turn it, pinch or scroll to zoom, tap a part to read about it, or move a slider to see a process happen.

Answering a question

Tap an option: the book shows right or wrong at once. The explanation stays closed until you tap Show explanation, so you always try first.

My Note, bookmarks and mistakes

Write your own points in the My Note strip under every concept. ☆ saves a question or a one-liner. Every wrong answer returns in the Revision Studio after 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 days.

Lab, tests and the GS Mock

The GS Lab builds a Smart Drill from your weak topics. The Practice Zone makes a test from any chapters and exams you choose, and the GS Mock follows the General Awareness section of your exam.

This book teaches General Studies the way I teach in class: first the reason behind a fact, then the fact, then the trap, then the question.
