Which pedogenic process is primarily is responsible for the characteristic fertility and profile renewal of Khadar alluvial soils in northern India?

ExplanationAnswer and explanation

Answer: (A) Annual inundation depositing fine fresh silt layers.

The fertility and profile renewal of the Khadar alluvial soils of northern India are mainly due to the annual flooding of rivers, which deposits fresh, fine silt layers every year. For this reason, this new alluvium is very fertile.
The older alluvial soil is called Bhangar, and it contains nodules of kankar.
Khadar soil is found in the flood plains of rivers.
Alluvial soil is suitable for crops such as wheat, rice and sugarcane.
