Call = बुलावा या plan; off = हमेशा के लिए switch off। दोस्तों के साथ party का plan बना और फिर पूरी तरह cancel हो गया — यही call off है।
Call means an invitation or a plan; off means switched off for good. Friends plan a party and then cancel it completely — the party is called off.
Call off और put off का अंतर SSC बार-बार पूछता है। Call off में चीज़ ख़त्म हो जाती है, put off में सिर्फ़ आगे खिसकती है; sentence में नई तारीख़ हो तो जवाब put off होगा।
SSC often tests call off against put off. Call off ends the event; put off only moves it to a later date, so if a new date is given, the answer is put off.
