Why are gases considerably more compressible than liquids?
ExplanationAnswer and explanation
Answer: (A) Gas particles have large spaces between them
Gases are more compressible than liquids because there is a lot of empty space between the particles of a gas.
When pressure is increased, the particles can come closer together and the volume decreases.
In liquids the particles are relatively close to each other, so their compression is negligible.
In solids the intermolecular space is the smallest, so they are the least compressible.
Gases such as LPG and CNG are stored in cylinders at high pressure because of this property.
