Under which situation can the President of India proclaim a Financial Emergency?
ExplanationAnswer and explanation
Answer: (B) Financial stability or credit of India is threatened
Under Article 360, when the President is satisfied that a situation has arisen whereby the financial stability or credit of India or of any part of its territory is threatened, he may declare a Financial Emergency.
The proclamation must be approved by both Houses of Parliament within two months.
Article 356 (President's Rule) applies on failure of the constitutional machinery in a State, and Article 352 (National Emergency) on war, armed rebellion or external aggression.
Till now, a Financial Emergency has never been declared in India.
