Super = ऊपर और flu = बहना (fluid, flow की तरह)। गिलास भर जाने के बाद जो पानी ऊपर से बह जाए, वह ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा है — superfluous।
SUPER means 'over' and FLU means 'flow', as in fluid. When a glass is already full, the water that flows over the top is more than is needed — that is superfluous.
