Overlook और pardon में अंतर है। Pardon गलती मानने के बाद मिलता है; overlook यानी बस जाने देना — 'छोड़िए, बच्चा है' — या ध्यान ही न देना।
Overlook is not the same as pardon. A pardon comes after a mistake is admitted; to overlook is simply to let it pass — 'leave it, he is only a child' — or not to notice it at all.
गलती जाने देने के sense में overlook ≈ condone; ध्यान न देने के sense में synonyms ignore, disregard हैं। Oversee (निगरानी करना) से confuse मत कीजिए।
In the sense of letting an offence pass, overlook is close to condone; in the sense of not noticing, its synonyms are ignore and disregard. Do not mix it with oversee, which means to supervise.
