For good = for ever। जब कोई बुरी आदत हमेशा के लिए छूट जाए तो हम कहते हैं 'जो हुआ अच्छा हुआ'। उसी 'good' को 'हमेशा के लिए' से जोड़ दीजिए: for good यानी सदा के लिए।
For good means for ever. When a bad habit leaves someone for ever, we say 'jo hua achha hua' (what happened was good). Link that 'good' with 'for ever', and you will remember that for good means permanently.
