Eligible, elect वाले परिवार का word है। जिसे elect किया जा सके, यानी चुना जा सके — वही eligible, पात्र। उल्टा ineligible।
ELIGIBLE comes from the same family as elect. An eligible person is one who can be elected or chosen, that is, qualified. Its opposite is ineligible.
