Krishnadevaraya was one of the greatest rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. He was a great patron of Telugu, Sanskrit, and Kannada literature. He himself was a scholar and composed the famous work 'Amuktamalyada'. His court was adorned by the 'Ashtadiggajas', eight eminent poets. Vijayanagara rulers actively promoted maritime trade, not avoided it. The Bahmani kingdom was plagued by internal conflicts and never remained centralized or stable. The 1565 Battle of Talikota was fought between Vijayanagara and the Deccan Sultanates (successor states of Bahmani), and it led to the decline of Vijayanagara, not a revival of the Bahmani state.
