उच्च न्यायालय (High Court) के न्यायाधीशों की नियुक्ति (appointment) राज्यपाल (Governor) नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्रपति (President) करते हैं (अनुच्छेद 217)। अतः यह नियुक्ति राज्यपाल द्वारा नहीं की जाती।
राज्यपाल राज्य लोक सेवा आयोग (State Public Service Commission) के अध्यक्ष व सदस्यों (अनुच्छेद 316) तथा महाधिवक्ता (अनुच्छेद 165) की नियुक्ति करता है।
