Answer और ExplanationAnswer and explanation

Answer: (C) Vice-President

Under Article 65, the Vice-President acts as President in the event of a vacancy in the office of the President due to death, resignation or removal, or otherwise, until a new President is elected and enters upon his office. A fresh election must be held within six months of the vacancy (Article 62).
•
While acting as President, the Vice-President does not perform the duties of Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
•
If the Vice-President is also unavailable, the Chief Justice of India (or the senior-most Judge) discharges the functions under the Presidential (Discharge of Functions) Act, 1969.
•
Article 70 allows Parliament to make provisions for such contingencies.
