Maharana Pratap was the Sisodia Rajput ruler of Mewar. Mughal Emperor Akbar fought this battle to subjugate Maharana Pratap, but Pratap refused to surrender and continued the conflict. Although the Mughals achieved a tactical victory, they could not capture Maharana Pratap. His loyal horse Cheetak became famous in this battle.
