Raziya Sultana was the first and only female ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. She was the daughter of Shamsuddin Iltutmish and ascended the throne in 1236 AD. During her reign, opposition from Turkish nobles and provincial governors grew. In 1240 AD, a rebellion led to her removal from the throne. Subsequently, she attempted to regain the throne from Bahram Shah but failed and died the same year. Raziya Sultana is remembered for her daring policies and administrative capability.
