मुकुलन (Budding)। खमीर अपनी सतह पर एक छोटी सी उभरी हुई संरचना बनाती है, जिसे कलिका (bud) कहते हैं। यह कलिका धीरे-धीरे बड़ी होती जाती है और अंततः अलग होकर एक नई कोशिका (cell) बन जाती है। यह प्रक्रिया अनुकूल परिस्थितियों में तेज़ी से प्रजनन करने की अनुमति प्रदान करती है। मुकुलन खमीर जैसे एककोशिकीय (unicellular) जीवों में सामान्य है और बहुकोशिकीय (multicellular) हाइड्रा में भी होता है।
