What are endemic species?
ExplanationAnswer and explanation
Answer: (B) Species that are found only in a particular region and nowhere else
Species that are found only in a particular region and nowhere else. Endemic species are plants and animals that are native to a specific geographical area and are found exclusively there. This area can be as small as a single island or a lake, or as large as a continent. Because their habitat is limited, these species are often isolated and have unique adaptations for their specific environment. This specialisation makes them especially vulnerable to habitat destruction and other environmental changes. A well-known example of an endemic species is the lion-tailed macaque, which occurs naturally only in the Western Ghats of India.
